Bad Breath

Bad breath in babies has both common and medical causes. Breathing through the mouth, sucking thumb and fingers or sucking a pacifier leads to bacterial growth which leaves a bad odour. Medically, blockages of nasal passages due to infection, allergies and cold can be a cause of bad breath. Brushing baby’s teeth and gums with a soft toothbrush and wiping the mouth after feeding can help alleviate bad breath. For a baby who sucks on its thumb and fingers, washing its hands regularly can help stop bacterial growth.

Bed Wetting

Enuresis or bed-wetting is totally involuntary and is very common in young children. Kids usually develop control over their bladder progressively. It most often occurs when the child is asleep.  About 5 to 7 million children wet the bed. It may happen as a result of your childss body that is still developing, genetic factors, disrupted routine of your child, deep rest or hidden mental condition. Parents often get worried but progressively with age, this condition is overcome.

Birthmarks

Almost 80% of children present with marks on their skin a couple of months after birth. These birthmarks are mostly insignificant from a medical perspective. They result mainly when there’s an underlying vessel underneath the skin or when there’s abnormal growth of skin cells in some cases. A very small incidence may indicate a condition which needs medical attention.

Birth Injury

Damage to the foetus resulting from a difficult or strained delivery via the birth canal is known as birth injury. The usual causes maybe a larger in size foetus or a narrower and tighter birth canal, leading to increased stress on foetus’s body. Most commonly,  the head or brain are injured as they are the first to come out of the body. Injuries might also be due to the foetus lying in an abnormal position in the uterus.

Bladder infection

Another expression for bladder disease that you may have heard is UTI – Urinary Tract Infection. It occurs due to irritation of the urethra, holding the pee in, constipation, improper wiping and uncircumcised penis. It is mostly commonly a bacterial infection. The fundamental effects experienced include frequent and painful urination, fever and urine with a bad odour. Children also experience the urgent desire to urinate.

Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia

BPD is a condition of the lungs occurring in mostly preterm infants. Premature babies have a smaller number of air sacs within their lungs; those present might not be fully mature either. The infants therefore require respiration which can result in permanent lung damage. Generally, children with BPD get better as the lungs develop along with age and reach full maturity.

Burns/Scalds

Burns happen when the skin is presented to heat or chemicals, for instance fire, sunburn, grinding and corrosives. Scalds are presented when the skin is presented to hot liquids, for instance boiling water, steam or hot fat. Burns and burns are typically separated into three classes relying upon how much harm they cause to the skin and basic tissues. Depending on the damage to tissue, the wounds heal accordingly, possibly leaving a scar. Serious manifestations may require plastic surgeries.
